MINDFULNESS PROFESSIONALS

Mindfulness Professionals is an independent organisation established by a group of Mindfulness Teachers with the aims of

  1. promoting Mindfulness in the UK
  2. bringing UK Mindfulness Teachers together
  3. being a central point of communication about the various options for Mindfulness Teacher training in the UK
  4. protecting its members interests

We believe that a recognised organisation speaking with one voice on behalf of its members will promote Mindfulness in a more cohesive manner and carry more credibility within the health profession, NHS,
schools, workplace, the various levels of government, and the community as a whole.

We invite you to join us so that we can bring the Mindfulness community under one roof, share information and research findings, offer clarification on training and promote cohesion so that we can all move forward in an effective manner.

We are able to support and advise members on:

Permissible Mindfulness advertising authorised by the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) and resolving complaints made by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)

Some of our members have recently had their publicity material scrutinised by the ASA after complaints were made against them. They were advertising the benefits of Mindfulness in the way that many other websites, leaflets and other advertising material do and were asked to resolve the matter within a few days or be taken to formal review.

Our in-house medico-legal advisor was able to offer advice, support and guidance through this complex disciplinary process.

We are able to provide the wording, as authorised by CAP, for use when advertising Mindfulness teaching.

Handling and resolving complaints made by students/patients through our in-house complaints manager and trained mediator.

As a professional organisation, we realise the importance for both the public and members alike to have a mediating body to ensure high standards of practice and appropriate recourse should a complaint be made against a Practitioner of Mindfulness. We can offer several levels of intervention and support to a Mindfulness Professional should the need arise.

Professional and ethical matters.

We have a professional constitution laying the foundation for professional and ethical matters arising from Mindfulness teaching. This could be used to supplement existing professional codes in related areas of teaching and practice.

Insurance

We are in the process of developing a Block Insurance Policy for Mindfulness Teachers with a well recognised Insurance Company which will offer significant discounts as compared to individual policies.

On-Line Support

We are able to offer our members on-line support for queries and issues arising out of Mindfulness Teaching and to help foster on-going development.
